About Me
I have been working as a fitness coach, personal trainer, or whatever you want to call me since 1997. I am very passionate about helping my clients improve their quality of life. Quality of life can be defined as losing body fat, decreasing aches and pains, building strength, reducing stress and or increasing energy all the while becoming more resilient. Exercise done correctly can have a profound impact on your health and sense of well being.
I pride myself on being a lifelong learner. I’m constantly trying to make myself into a better trainer by attending workshops, reading, and attaining new credentials. I’m ashamed to say that my industry is great at making false claims and spreading bad information in the interest of profit. I can help you navigate all the information and come up with a realistic personalized plan to achieve your goals.
Having coached over 30,000 sessions, I have learned that there is no universal exercise prescription. Everybody is an individual. What works for one may not work for another. People move differently, are built differently and have varied injury histories. We can determine together the best path to take. I have helped people with joint replacements, pre and post natal, surgeries, acute injuries or just general aches and pains. It’s all about improvement. Your current state is not important or permanent. Improvement is important. Feeling better is important. Experiencing happiness in the fact that you are doing something positive for yourself is important.
I love being outdoors: backpacking, camping, hiking, playing sports...anything outside really. My favorite sport by far is baseball. I loved playing it, now I like to watch it, especially Dodger Baseball. I have coached soccer, softball and basketball for my two daughters Molly and Grace. My philosophy on youth training is to keep it fun and diverse when they are young, delay specializing in one sport for as long as possible. For better athletic development you want a wide base of skills. Each sport offers it own unique skill set and life lessons. I emphasize improving athletic movement to increase performance and decrease risk of injury.
